Information on the 'SIBOL' project.

Good morning!

Thank you very much for visiting the 'SIBOL' Blog today.

As a Group we make 'Sunshine Blankets' and 'Shawls' for Elderly Residents in Care Homes and if you would like to help us please follow the LINK over to 'SIBOL CHALLENGES' where you will find all the information you need.

We also have a Group over on RAVELRY where you will find a friendly group of Ladies who of course share the love of Crocheting and Knitting. Here's the LINK. Why not pop over and introduce yourself?

If you are interested to see our work since January 2010 why not pop over to FLICKR. FLICKR is a photo sharing site where I keep the visual record of all our Sunshine Blankets made since January 2010. Here's the LINK.

We have now made 970 Sunshine Blankets and I am very eager to reach our 1,000th! So if you think you can help please do! Shawls are always needed in the Homes too. For any enquiries please do not hesitate to contact me on sueatpigsty@talktalk.net.

Samantha has very kindly sent me a parcel this morning. Thank you so much. A beautiful Hexagon Sunshine Blanket has been made in very pretty colours and it's very kind of her to donate it to our 'SIBOL' project. This certainly will be very useful to the Care Homes I visit.
It's a nice size and will be ideal for someone's lap.

Thank you so much for the ribbon too Samantha we can certainly find a use for it.
It's very nice of you thank you for everything.

Let's take a look now at this wonderful Blanket.

are making and donating Sunshine Blankets

to Elderly Residents in Care/Nursing Homes.

We no longer accept Squares but we do accept

your Crocheted and Knitted Blankets. We also

accept Knitted and Crocheted Shawls.

Important Notices

Please Note.

Donations of Sunshine Blankets/Shawls/Butterflies can be accepted between these dates.

1st March to 30th November 2016. Thank you.

I am often asked if there are 'collection points' around the country. Some Ladies find the cost of postage too expensive. There is a way round this. Why not make your Sunshine Blanket and donate it to your 'local' Care Home? If you want to contact me for a a pdf 'label' I will willingly send it to you. You can do this on behalf of our Group 'SIBOL' if that would help you. On the understanding that you would send me a photo of your blanket and the name of the Home where you have donated it to. I can then count this in to our totals.

Lists of Care Homes are available by contacting me.

This would be a great way of getting Sunshine Blankets to the Elderly in other parts of the country and not just 'Birmingham'.

The Lost Stash by Sally 'Chunky Hooker'.

Whilst rummaging in the scrap cupboard, I heard a plaintive cry " She never looks in our little bag, Can you tell me why? " A voice replied, "We're old and tatty, A little bit worn out, Our colours dull, our fibres matted, Now don't give me that pout!" "But I want to be a 'Sibolette', I really, really do! To be part of a Sibol, Made by the lovely Sue. It's my destiny, my dream, my fate!" The voice was getting higher, "I may be old but it's never too late, I'm not ready to retire". "Oh gosh", I thought, That sounds like me, Slightly worn, with a dodgy knee. So I'm off to college, A Diploma to gain And the voices of the Lost Stash? "Sibolettes" they became!
